D's Diner
For the past few years, I’ve made it a tradition to ride from San Francisco to D’s Diner in Sebastopol and back, usually right around the winter solstice.
It’s a sun-up-to-sun-down kind of ride to a place that’s special to me, and happens to have incredible food.
I used to go to this diner with my friend Nate and his family on summer drives to their Russian River house, where we’d spend long, lazy weeks by the water. As we got older, we spent less time by the water, and more time suffering on our bikes.
Riding there now is a way to remember those times, and the nostalgia hits me hard the moment I step through the doors at D’s.
It poured rain all day, and honestly, I was surprised by how many people still showed up at sunrise. Four of us made the long haul for the full route. Grateful for everyone who rolled out.
We’ll be hosting rides about once a month. Check out our Strava group for details. Keeping it invite-only for now to keep the group tight, safe, and fast.
